Dr. Jade Pagkas-Bather is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and physician-scientist within The University of Chicago’s Section of Infectious Diseases & Global Health. Her clinical work and research are strongly situated at the nexus between community engaged research with Black sexual minority men (BSMM) and anti-retroviral therapy (ART) adherence along a status-neutral continuum. Dr. Pagkas-Bather’s research has evolved from epidemiology and observational studies to incorporation of implementation science with a focus on real-world scale up of PrEP and other methods that involve decreasing barriers to PrEP access for sexual, gender, and racial minorities. Her current work focuses on developing strategies that limit social and environmental barriers to HIV treatment and prevention efforts for Black sexual minority men.
