Senior Epidemiologist and Research Coordinator
Massachusetts Department of Public Health
I, Heather Elder PhD, MPH, am a Senior Epidemiologist and Research Coordinator for the Division of STD Prevention and HIV Surveillance at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health’s Bureau of Infectious Diseases and Laboratory Sciences. Currently, my work primarily focuses on data analyses for gonorrhea and chlamydia surveillance and prevention activities. These activities include enhanced gonorrhea follow-up, monitoring surveillance data for non-susceptible gonorrhea and disseminated gonococcal infections. Additionally, I assist with data analyses for syphilis prevention and HIV care re-engagement activities. I also support our Division’s data standardization and data quality initiatives ensuring accurate and timely data collection and documentation. When not working on data analyses, I enjoy mentoring MPH students.
