Executive Director of the AHF Global Public Health Institute, Former Director General of the National HIV Program of Mexico (CENSIDA), Board Chair of MPact (Global Action for Gay Men’s Health and Rights), Interim Chair of the Board of Trustees of IAPAC (International Association of Providers of AIDS Care), Former Board Member of Global Fund (GF) Representing Latin America & The Caribbean, Member of the Developing Country NGO., former Panelist of The Independent Panel to Evaluate the Global Response to Ebola convened by Harvard Global Health Institute and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and is also former Member of the Strategy Committee of the Global Fund AIDS, TB and Malaria representing the Developing Country NGOs, Member of the UNAIDS Global Targets Setting Steering Committee, Dr Saavedra is a Mexican national and Medical Doctor from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) with two Master degrees one in Public Health and another in Health Policy and Management both from Harvard University. Dr. Savedra has also been Deputy Director General of Planning and Innovation at the Ministry of Health of Mexico (2001-2003) and was the Funding Director of Mexico City Clinica Condesa, the largest HIV Clinic in Latin America. He has several publications mainly related with AIDS Economics and global health governance, among the latest ones: A Global Public Health Convention for the XXI Century (Lancet May 5, 2021), Will Ebola change the game? Ten essential reforms before the next pandemic. The report of the Harvard-LSHTM Independent Panel on the Global Response to Ebola (Lancet Nov 23, 2015) and Facing forward after Ebola: questions for the next director general of the World Health Organization (BMJ May 19, 2016).
