This 1-hour breakfast workshop aims to increase attendee’s familiarity with STI-related grant funding opportunities focused on opportunities for young investigators (YI). We will start with an overview of National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant funding opportunities for YI, and hear from some recent recipients of NIH funding (both clinical and laboratory perspectives) about how they navigated the K award process. We will then look at other funding opportunities including those from industry, and overseas funding organizations. We will finish up with a brief discussion about the opportunities from Fogarty the international component of the NIH. The hour will comprise short presentations from individuals with great expertise in STI-related funding and we will strongly encourage participant discussions. By the end of the hour, we expect that you will have a much clearer idea of what funding sources are available for young investigators and confidence about applying for funding.
